Steve Metzger started Prairie Risk Partners Ltd. as a service-oriented workers compensation provider in October 2008.  29 years of property/casualty insurance experience and nine years in leading United Heartland’s operations in Illinois and Indiana provided a strong background.  Underwriting, claims and loss control teammates joined Steve in working with established independent agency partners and their clients.  A multi-functional team approach is used to assist clients in preventing workers compensation losses and supporting the healing of injured workers.  Steve’s career started in loss control and progressed into underwriting and regional underwriting positions with CNA Insurance in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois.  Five years with a regional broker also provided a broader perspective of client service and risk management expectations.  Steve earned his BA in biology and BS in science education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
